San Diego Spectacular: Me’ Very Piratey Week
Monday
It was a cold morning, but we drove to San Diego at 6:00. When we got there, we dropped off my mom at her educational conference. I resumed my book, Pandora the Jealous (it’s an intriguing book and I highly recommend it). Before I knew it, my brother and I were being dropped off at the Natural History Museum to begin our numero uno day of … Our swashbuckling Camp of Pirates! Daddy signed us in, and in no time at all, I was parting with my father.
**********************************
I saw my classroom and chose the front right seat. Our camp leader introduced himself as Captain Cameron, and his three helpers were named Darby, Elsie and Michael (Mike). We made our own pirate outfits consisting of A black, red, and white, pirate bandana, a white piece of fabric that we used as a sash, and a foam eyepatch with foam stickers on it. We went to the Pirate Exhibit and learned about the Whydah Galley. Monday was really exciting!
Tuesday
We stayed in a hotel called Double Tree, and once again dropped off my mom. I was so excited to see my new friend Amaya from Pirate Camp! We got there, and played catch. As soon as we got in the classroom, we voted on our ship name. I contributed The Barnacle Bones. It was one point off from being our ship name! We decided upon The Ripper! We also made some rules, Ye Olde Crew Rules. Then we thought about the good and bad things about pirates. We were super sneaky, and got to see the younger kids rules and good things about pirates. A couple of the funny bad things were, ‘They go potty in the ocean.’ and ‘ They throw people overboard.’ We learned about Sam Bellamy, who died when he was 29 and nicer than other pirates.I even learned how to play Uno at lunchtime! Tuesday was cool!
Wednesday
On Wednesday, I did a scavenger hunt in the Pirate Exhibit, and found everything!

My Home Page
Hi, everyone! My name is ——– Dove, or —–, as you will come to know me, and I am a little 11 year old girl with big dreams. I am an accomplished ABT dancer, but in my spare time, I like to sew. So, on this blog, I will make and sell products that I have machine sewn. If you would like to purchase one of these items, thank you very much, and take comfort in knowing that 100% of your small donation will go to a children’s hospital, including CHOC, Hoag, and St. Joseph. With your help, I hope to save many children’s lives!
*Please take note that any donation is much appreciated.

Jordan’s Long and Tiring Day of Fun
-
I awoke at 11:23 and Mom instantly shocked me by yelling enthusiastically, “Tomorrow you are starting violin lessons!”
- I soon discovered I would be taking these “shocking” violin lessons at BECKMAN HIGH SCHOOL, a place where I had taken swim lessons when I was younger, but was completely unfamiliar with their music system.
- Not only was I taking lessons at Beckman, but my mother had also wished to include me to in the school band next year. At the time I felt queasy and uneasy and was certain this was the worst idea man had created.
- By this time I was famished, because as you can see on this (spectacular) chart of mine, I did not have any breakfast yet. So, we went out to LUNCH with my grandpa, Tatay, at Macaroni Grill. I ordered mac n’ cheese. Now let’s talk of weather…oh they are done already? FINE…
- We visited the music studio at BECKMAN HIGH SCHOOL to meet my new music teacher (of whom I don’t even know the name of yet).
- After we had our (amazing) lunch at Macaroni Grill, I walked into the door of the (very very helpful) shop called Jim’s Music Store and received my VERY FIRST VIOLIN EVER! I also acquired my very first violin learning music book. They gave me this extra string that I needed as well called the D and A string.
- Next, we ventured into the depths of the deadly Cream Pan and ordered poisonous strawberry cream croissánt and oozy gooey sugar donut (it didn’t kill us though because it wasn’t any of those things. It was the best in the world).
- We decided to go home so when we set foot in the house I realized I had forgotten my donut inside the car! I was laughing when I got in and after I finished my donut, I hopped and skipped and twirled upstairs so I could play ‘Monopoly Jr.’ with my little brother Andrew (and win). Of course, after we completed the game, my mom persuaded me to learn the parts of my violin. I learned it, and checked each part on my violin. One of the fine tuners was missing, so we had go to Jim’s Music Store to go get one added.
- Mommy then said it was our pick of an early dinner, so Andrew and I agreed on Boston Market. We brought it to the Citrus Grove Park and played for some hours.
- We returned home to a snuggly bed and watched Rise of the Guardians.

The Huntington Beach Nature Center (nature account)
Before I knew it we were at the nature center and everybody was excited. First of all, we had to learn some rules. A guide called where we were standing our very own outdoor classroom! After that,we learned about redwood trees. The guide put Matthew under a leaves of the tree, squirted the leaves, and Matthew got wet! Cool, right? Well, that could be a way the tree feeds its roots. We also learned the parts of trees. There is the bark, xylem, phloem, and the heartwood. We then went to the very old river. We then got to see cattails and some mallards, too. Then, we got to see real pictures of a bee, a butterfly, a hummingbird, and a bat, all pollinating flowers. Then, she showed us the difference between the way we see, and the way a bug sees. We kept trading our visions with someone else, blue, a red-pinkish, and what I might call fly-vision. Next, we pretended we were butterflies and flew, actually flew, to our next activity. We flew through the hummingbird garden to find, (drum roll please,) FLOWERS ON A TABLE THAT WERE READY TO SMELL!!!!! As we followed our guide, we saw we were at our last center.(drum roll please) WE LEARNED ABOUT SEEDS!!!!!! Finally, we had lunch and went to play.
